Weird Dreams

We arrived from a 6-day paddy-whacking journey in a jalopy of a Toyota Land Cruiser to gaze upon the mystical mountain of Qomolangma. After a dusting and a laundry I fell into bed…

In my dream I pile out of the Land Cruiser and bid farewell to driver Jadso with a 50. Collect my stuff and start walking. There is no hotel to find, just a circular‘kora’ trail around the valley of Lhasa. Lhasa is no longer a city, just a space housing the Potala.

I am walking with my bags… walking…and the monks see us and approach and begin to insist that we stay the night at their monastery. We do not want to, only a hot shower and a meal is the desire.

"Are you ok?” “Yeah,” I say still one foot in the dream “I only cough when we get to a monastery.”(I am suffering from a cough)

“You are Dreaming.”
“Yes…I'll be right with you…” I am back inside. Walking, walking, I can't stop walking. Dreaming. Suddenly I am overheating. Red-blue fire sprouts from my toenails and my ears. I sit up and clutch my belly, the gripes have started – dinner tonight was a bit too heavy with oil and chili. I unload everything in one go.
